Alyssa Saucier has enjoyed being involved in the theater arts. She was in the cast of “Hairspray” during her freshman year and has participated in multiple productions at the ARTC theatre in downtown Winston Salem.

“I am currently in a show called ‘Carrie the Musical,’ then I was in ‘Heathers: The Musical’ and I was a stage manager for a show called ‘Don’t Talk to the Actors,’” Saucier said.

Saucier has enjoyed the work she has done at the ARTC theatre and has learned a lot from it.

“I did ‘Heathers’ when I was 15…It kind of showcased how [the world] is outside the high school bubble,” Saucier said “I am so grateful for it because I got to meet so many amazing people from it and I got to broaden my skills.”

After graduation she plans to go to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is excited to be the first of her siblings to get a degree.

“My sister had to drop out of school early and got her GED so I’m gonna be the first of my siblings to get their college education so I’m looking forward to that,” Saucier said

While she will only minor in theatre, she plans to major in secondary education focusing on english in hopes to later become a teacher.

“Growing up I always wanted to be an actor,” Saucier said. “I kinda realized how much I enjoyed giving information and how much I kinda love the idea of always learning especially with a subject I love like english or literature.”
