Bagel Station vs. Chick-Fil-A

Before school, it is always essential to get a hearty breakfast, and luckily RJ Reynolds High School is in a prime location for you to stop and pick up something on the way to your first period class. Two of the most frequented spots for Demon diners is Chick-Fil-A and The Bagel Station. While The Bagel Station stands as a the more popular place for a meal and perhaps a better price, some students (including myself) believe that a four count Chicken Mini meal from Chick-Fil-A is unbeatable.

Almost every morning throughout this school year I have stopped on my way to school and picked up my favorite breakfast meal: a four count chicken mini meal with a side of hashbrowns and a sweet tea. I have stopped at The Bagel Station from time to time just to switch things up, and in the end I have concluded that while a fresh Bagel Station bagel is delicious, a chicken mini breakfast meal from Chick-Fil-A is the bee’s knees.

“I prefer a chicken mini meal from Chick-Fil-A over a bagel from Bagel Station, because usually a bagel does not quite fill me up and it takes too much time to get my food and still be on time to class,”  junior Simba Mushayamunda said. “At Chick-Fil-A I can either go through the drive-thru or just pop in and out and get my order to go.”

The price of a bagel with cream cheese spread from Bagel Station is around $2.50, which is a good deal, where as a breakfast meal from Chick-Fil-A usually costs $5.80.  But it’s worth it in the end, with more food included in your meal compared to just one bagel.

“I do enjoy breakfast from Chick-Fil-A but I am not a huge fan of greasy fast food,”  RJR anatomy teacher Tracy Cobb said. “I prefer a fresh bagel from Bagel Station because I believe in starting off your day with a nutritious meal, I also grew up in Chicago where a fresh bagel in the morning is a common thing for most people who live there.”

While there are many different reasons why you can say one meal is better than the other, I will always put a fresh Chick-Fil-A breakfast meal first when deciding what I want for breakfast in the morning. Despite my loyalty to the Chick-Fil-A breakfast menu, a fresh bagel from Bagel Station is always a good meal to fill up your stomach.

CFA > Bagel Station

The Bagel Station is an iconic breakfast and lunch delicacy in Winston Salem. Even with two different dining locations, they will always be filled with people no matter when you go.

The Bagel Station has been loved since it opened in 1990. The goal of the Bagel Station was to enlighten the city of Winston Salem to the authentic New York style bagel experience.  Started by Dr. Dan the Bagel Man and his wife Kathy, they have withstood the test of time and will continue to better the community by sharing their delicious bagels with the people of Winston.

“I think Bagel Station is the best because the bagels they make are quality and the amount of choices they have allows you to switch things up,” senior Linden Fisher said.

The Bagel Station creates Brooklyn style water bagels that are made from scratch. They use premium quality ingredients in the original store, which separates them from all the other bagel frauds.

“Bagel station bagels are simply way better than all the other bagels in Winston,” senior Kate Overman said.

The Bagel Station is so good that they have won the award of Winston Salem’s best bagels for 20 years in a row. Competitors like Panera try to match the quality but Bagel Station is one of a kind. Years ago, Bruegger’s Bagels came to try to settle down in WInston but Bagel Station said “this town isn’t big enough for the both of us,” causing Bruggers to leave in shame.

“Bagel Station is good because every bagel there is fresh and every bagel they have can be made-to-order,” senior Parker Burrows said.

Bagel Station is quick, easy, and delicious. With reasonable prices and good service, Bagel Station is a stop you have to make when deciding on breakfast spots.
