A piping mug of apple cider.
A day spent carving pumpkins.
The aroma of pecan pie and maple syrup wafting throughout a home.
Crackling bonfires and spooky stories.
There is something in the autumn air that just seems to bring warmth and tradition everywhere it goes. In fact, Reynolds has a special tradition of its own. Thursday, Oct. 30, RJR will be having its annual Oktoberfest celebration. Clubs will be setting up stations in order to promote their organizations with fundraisers and hopefully recruit some new students for the remainder of the school year.
“Oktoberfest is great because it’s early enough in the year that freshmen can go around to the booths and see all of the clubs they may want to join,” said junior Jane Cleland, a proud member of Reynolds Girls Club. “Specifically (it is useful if you are interested) in service clubs, because you have to apply for them in a few months.”
All the service clubs and many other organizations — both well known and new — will have a presence at Oktoberfest. The event takes place from 2:40 to 3:40 p.m. on the main driveway around the landing, auditorium and arts building. Classes are 15 minutes shorter to allow students that free hour at the end of the day, which also happens to be the end of the first quarter. There is no school Friday because of a teacher work day to submit grades.
Here is a sneak peak of what this year’s Oktoberfest has to offer:
- Anime Club: “Maid Café”
