Promposal: “a person asking another person to prom in an extravagant or over-the-top fashion.”
Prom is where the punch is tart and the DJ can really spin some tunes. It is a perk of being a high school student.
Getting the courage to ask a person to prom is great, but thinking of an original idea is priceless. Being asked to prom is awesome, but being the one asking can be frightening or exciting.
Between the price of tuxes, dresses, the limo, hair and nails, plus the corsages, it can be expensive. To make it worth the time and money, the one thing you need is that perfect date. Promposals are the new way to ask a date to prom and win the heart of your crush. Making an extravagant proposal and making a scene will definitely get you a “yes.”
Jessica Skinner was brave and asked her crush to prom.
“I got a thing of flour and I typed up a recipe for prom with ingredients to make the perfect prom night. I took it to his house and put it on his front step.”
Skinner said she was so nervous, she could feel her heart about to beat out of her chest.
“I then waited for a while until he went out and got it. So I went back to his house with an actual bouquet of flowers that said, ‘Oops, wrong flour! Prom?’”
Skinner then added, “He said yes, of course, with some sugar.”
A classic cute way to ask someone to prom is to recite a poem, like Robin Anderson’s date did: “My old friend wrote a poem and read it to our class. At the end it said, ‘Roses are red, violets are blue, Robin I’d love to go to prom with you!’ ” Anderson said “The way his voice was shaking was so adorable.”
Getting nervous comes with the question and the reply. Senior Linda Laiton was asked by another senior, Matt Breese, who surprised her with a huge banner in her front yard.
“My mom made me go with her to get some groceries and then told me we needed to go home quick for something for my dad so we went back home,” Laiton said.
He then was standing in front of the banner holding a teddy bear: “I couldn’t believe it, much less stop smiling. It was awesome! The sign was so big and pretty. Matt was the cutest for putting it all together. It was great!”
