Do-do-bop-bop, ba-do-do, boom-ba-ta-ki-da-boom-*CLAP*. These phrases seem to be gibberish to most people, but they and others like them will soon be filling Reynolds Auditorium.
The ninth annual A Cappella Jam for Hope will take place Saturday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 (minimum donation per ticket) and all proceeds go to benefit the scholarship fund for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools’ summer production programs.
A conflict with the Mars Hill Choral Festival, which is on the first Friday and Saturday of February, caused the date for the Jam for Hope to be moved up from its typical slot of the first Saturday in February. Many of the students were involved in both events for the past few years and the back and forth proved too much for the students.
The new date won’t take away anything from this fun-filled event, though.
“A Cappella Jam will blow everyone away,” sophomore Syncopate member Claire Hoke said.
The concert will feature many collegiate and high school a cappella groups. The groups featured include:
- Lost in Sound and Enharmonix from Appalachian State University.
- Tarpeggios and Cadence from UNC Chapel Hill
- Fortissimamas from UNC Asheville
- Acafellons from Gardner-Webb University
- Syncopate and Acafellas from Reynolds High School
- Groups from Parkland, Reagan and Mount Tabor high schools and Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy
