“To describe her in 2 words: ‘she cared,’” tennis coach Johnny Highsmith said. “She cared about her own performance. She cared about the team. She cared about RJR and did the best she could.”

Elizabeth Youssef played tennis for four years at Reynolds and excelled in every aspect on the team. From being a strong leader to an incredible player, she did it all.

Tennis is not all she brought to RJR. She plays piano, cello, guitar and ukulele, and is also a member of Syncopate. Her focus and drive have served her well through her years’ and she is now headed to UNC Chapel Hill.

“I am really excited about meeting new people and being in a new place,” Youssef said. “Reynolds has been alright but I’m ready for more independence and freedom.”

Youssef has been loved by her teachers every step of the way. She challenges herself in and out of the classroom and steps up in leadership positions. Noting she was Varsity Girls Tennis captain for two years, Girls Council president and Pine Whispers Editor-in-Chief her senior year.

“She is cheerful, friendly, and has a very relaxed attitude towards life,” English teacher Stephanie Walters said. “Even though I’m no longer teaching her, she will still drop by just to chat or give me a hug.”

As Youssef’s career at RJR ends, she leaves a legacy of leadership, care and devotion for those around her to follow.
