As the holiday season arrives, peppermint is the flavor of choice. While there are many classic peppermint treats, a coffee lover will probably go for the peppermint mocha. I have made it my mission to travel Winston-Salem in search of the best drink available.

Starbucks

Starbucks is a classic coffee shop that is always very reliable. They have variety of seasonal coffee drinks to try and they are all very unique. Peppermint mocha is one of the classic seasonal drink they offer. The peppermint mocha from Starbucks was definitely one of the best. The perfect combination of peppermint, chocolate, and espresso made for a perfect holiday drink. Along with the tastiness of the drink, the atmosphere felt very comfortable and cozy.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts definitely lacks warm, comfortable atmosphere you find at Starbucks. It also focuses on more than just coffee, which is Starbucks’ main selling point. The peppermint mocha from Dunkin’ Donuts was somewhat disappointing. While it tasted great, it did not taste like peppermint. In fact, I could barely taste it at all. It seemed to taste exactly like a regular mocha.

Krankie’s

The Krankie’s airstream has a great proximity to Reynolds and is a fast easy way to get coffee. It is a drive through so I didn’t stop to drink my peppermint mocha. The drink itself was very good. The coffee flavor was very strong in a good way. The peppermint and mocha were more subtle but not completely lost. If you’re a coffee person and just want a little extra flavor, Krankie’s is the way to go.

Overall, Starbucks definitely had the best peppermint mocha. Along with the great coffee shop atmosphere, the drink had a perfect mix of flavors that made it the best winter time drink. This holiday season, if you ever looking for a hot peppermint mocha, Starbucks is the way to go.
