Ah, it’s that time of year again. Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. As I’m writing about Valentine’s Day from a girl’s perspective, I’m sure many of you are expecting me to say I expect to be showered with presents, flowers and chocolates by that special someone.
However, boys, listen up: Chances are if your girlfriend is like that, you’re probably broke and you don’t have enough money for even a card on Valentine’s Day. You should probably dump her.
A lot of girls aren’t like the stereotypical bottomless money pits that media portrays them to be. First of all, a guy doesn’t have to spend a lot of money to make Valentine’s Day special. Wake her up with a cute “good morning” text. Leave her a note in her locker after lunch. Use your brain to come up with something sweet for her.
And that’s only if ya’ll are dating. A valentine doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be in a relationship with that person, or even talking to said person. A valentine can be a really close friend or even a hot stranger.
If a guy were to decide to splurge a little for his valentine, remember these three Fs.
I recommend a fuzzy animal of some sort (teddy bears are usually a safe option.) These huge, plush, lovable stuffed animals can be found at any corner drug store, even Costco.
Flowers are the next F we come to. Roses are definitely the best flower, unless the girl has a favorite that’s different (for example, some ladies love lilies.) Red roses are a way of saying “I love you” and are the epitome of passion and romance. Pink roses indicate fun and happiness and say that you care without as much of a commitment as red roses. And white roses are associated with innocence and truth and yearning for the company of the lady to which they are given.
Finally, and most importantly, the last F stands for food. Contrary to popular belief, food is a girl’s best friend. It’s not diamonds. I’m not saying a guy should spend hundreds of dollars on a dinner date: a simple trip to Taco Bell or Cook-Out would do just as well. For those willing to spend more than $5 on their valentine, I suggest Chipotle.
Keeping these three Fs in mind will help guys avoid failing on this all-important day. All guys should know that they don’t have to break the bank to make us girls happy for Valentine’s Day.
To every boy out there: We appreciate all the little things you do and the gestures of kindness you show us. Just follow these rules and your girl will be more than happy.
